Hope is always a good thing, Dis-Member.
I remember learning as a JW that there's desire, expectation and hope. Not all the same, so I read . . .
Likewise, what to believe? You put it so well.
THANKS!

greetings, all those still searching, still wondering .
.. in one of many faith-related books i have read, i recall the author declaring that there's a difference between what we know and what we believe.
while i cannot recall the author nor his commentary, i acknowledge that, while i do know ttatt and that the bible in not without error, yet there's a part of me deep inside that holds onto the so-called spiritual.. how is it for you personally as you make the transition from the invisible to the visible?

teresa graves was a beautiful, talented actress and singer.
she was deceived by wt false prophecies and worthless teachings.
she threw away a very promising career to become a jw.
She was spokesperson on behalf of our persecuted brothers and sisters in Malawi. Her efforts garnered much favorable publicity.

are there any more examples like this?
pictures changed because a person was disfellowshipped?.
Persons asking why the bound volume reprint has a different cover picture are receiving answers such as the Society's letter shown here claiming that the cover was changed to "produce a more appropriate and suitable illustration."
Why is the Watchtower Society determined to hide the truth regarding its September 15, 1982, cover? Because this information exposes THE WATCHTOWER for what it really is - not "the channel of communication" from God, as it claims, but just another magazine like the magazines it 'borrowed' the picture from.

while researching something else, i came across these two comments from a wt on how we should view the blood issue, when it comes to our pets.. *** w64 2/15 p. 127 questions from readers ***.
"would it be a violation of the scriptures for a christian to permit a veterinarian to give blood transfusions to a pet?
by all means, to do so would be a violation of the scriptures.".
How irrational the Society could be was experienced by the sister-in-law of ex-bethelite William Cetnar when . . .
at the suggestion of her veterinarian, she had a blood transfusion given to her poodle to prolong its life. She couldn't believe Bill [Cetnar] when he told her that the Society would say she had violated God's law. At his urging she wrote the Society on the matter and the response she received informed her that she had done wrong. Phyllis thought that this was ridiculous. She wrote again and asked if her cat eating a mouse would also be a problem; was this too against God's law? She was told that she should keep the cat under restraint and be more careful in handling it. She thought to herself, "How many cats have I seen which have drained the blood of their mouse victim before eating it?"

i hope this thread generates some discussion as well as some amusement.
i want to talk about "banned books".
back in the middle ages, the roman catholic church issued its index librorum prohibitorum, the list of prohibited books.
Of late, I am wordless, yet I do heartily subscribe to this subject!
Hi Quendi!

his talk was about reaching out for the real life.. he is in his mid seventies, then begins to rant on about staying loyal to the organization because many of us have lost loved ones in death and if we want to see them again we must remain in the organization.
he says he wants to see his father again, then the tears begin to flow right there on the stage.... then an elderly sister during the watchtower study admits to regetting leaving her daughter behind to seek a better life in the u.s, and she is crying.... these 2 meetings was just plain weird..
Dear Bee:

a lot of us have said that theres been a dumbing down in jw land.
its just not like it used to be especially a few decades ago.
it seems to me that if jw are right and the end of the world is near, the spiritual food should get tastier and more nourishing as time goes on, but it's getting more and more bland and less nourishing.
He was the Oracle. [emphasis CC]
He made his own rules and everyone accepted it with "Well, that's Freddy".
I was there in Yankee Stadium for his 20 min. prayer.
